Highly recommend--Nicely done; I was right there on the ice. Ankeny's writing style captured the swishing of bodies, lives, moments gliding past in one tragic and embracing breath--succinct and poignant.
I love how Ankeny gives us an entire emotional life in snapshot. I know there's more, and I'm curious about it, but Ankeny manages to make this extremely brief tale complete. It's certainly tender and powerful, but Ankeny strips the timeline down to the exact moments necessary and not a single thing more. I'm not sure I could ever write a flash novel, but I do enjoy reading them. I definitely include this book within that.
